How to resize a photo for a passport or visa application
- Choose the preset. Pick US, UK, Schengen, or enter a custom size and KB limit.
- Add your photo. Use a front-facing photo on a plain, light background.
- Resize. The photo is centre-cropped, resized and compressed to the limit.
- Check and download. Confirm your face is centred, then download the JPEG.

Frequently asked questions
What size is a US passport or visa photo?
For digital submission the US State Department asks for a square JPEG between 600×600 and 1200×1200 pixels and no larger than 240 KB. The US preset produces 600×600 under 240 KB.
What size does the UK online passport service need?
GOV.UK asks for a digital photo at least 600 pixels wide and 750 pixels tall, between 50 KB and 10 MB. The UK preset outputs exactly 600×750.
Does this tool check whether my photo will be accepted?
No. It fixes the size, shape and file weight only. Lighting, background colour, expression and head position must still meet the official rules — check them on the government website before submitting.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. Cropping, resizing and compression run in your browser. The photo never leaves your device.
My form needs a different size or a 50 KB limit — can I do that?
Yes. Choose Custom and enter the width, height and maximum KB the form states.
