How to watermark an image
- Add images. Drop one or many photos onto the drop zone.
- Enter your text. Use your name, brand or a copyright notice.
- Style it. Set size, colour, opacity, rotation and position — or tile it across the image.
- Download. Save the watermarked image, or a ZIP for the batch.
Frequently asked questions
How do I watermark a copy of my ID or passport?
Press the 'ID copy' preset, then replace [purpose] with who it is for, e.g. 'Copy for rental application only - 30 Sep 2026'. A copy stamped with its purpose and date is much harder to reuse for anything else. Everything runs in your browser, so the ID is never uploaded.
What opacity works best for a watermark?
Around 35-50% is visible enough to deter reuse without ruining the photo. Use tiling with low opacity for proofs and previews.
Can the watermark be removed?
The text is burned into the pixels, so it cannot be toggled off. A determined editor can still retouch it, which is why tiling is stronger than a single corner mark.
Do you add your own watermark to my files?
Never. FileSlim adds only the text you type, and the tool is free with no signup.
